Mining Geology

The program is committed to delivering exceptional education in Mining Geology, equipping graduates with comprehensive knowledge and research-oriented skills in mineral prospecting, exploration methods, and resource evaluation. This enables graduates to make meaningful contributions to the community of Madinah in particular, and to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in general. The Mining Geology Program aims to provide in-depth knowledge of the principles, concepts, and theories of mining geology, and to develop students’ skills to enable them to identify, interpret, and propose solutions to problems related to mineral exploration and exploitation. The program also seeks to equip students with the fundamentals of scientific research in mining geology, enhance their critical thinking abilities, and develop effective leadership skills in line with societal needs and the strengthening of community partnerships. Furthermore, it strives to prepare highly competent graduates who demonstrate responsibility and adherence to professional ethics, while fostering their capacity for lifelong learning and structured, sustainable professional development.

The program offers students an integrated blend of knowledge, skills, and values in mining geology and its related basic sciences. This includes the study of key concepts in mining geology, as well as an understanding of Earth’s various mineral resources and the geological processes responsible for their formation. Students also acquire advanced knowledge of geological, geochemical, and geophysical methods used in mineral exploration within the mining sector. In addition, they develop the ability to identify and distinguish geological and geotectonic regions within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to recognize the mining potential available in each region.

Moreover, the program equips students with the skills to apply scientific concepts to explain and evaluate the composition and formation mechanisms of different mineral resources, while strengthening their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities in mining-related geological issues. Students are also enabled to produce mining geological models with strong scientific significance, supported by professional illustrations and specialized reports, and to enhance their competencies in assessing environmental issues resulting from mining activities.

In addition, the Mining Geology Program enables students to work responsibly within collaborative teams and to communicate effectively in presenting and explaining scientific findings, while adhering to professional values, standards, and ethical principles, and maintaining a commitment to continuous self-directed learning.
