The Department of Chemistry at the College of Science, Taibah University, is considered one of the leading academic departments contributing to the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030 through the promotion of education, scientific research, and innovation. The department aims to graduate qualified national competencies in various fields of chemistry, equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to support sustainable development, manufacturing industries, and vital sectors in the Kingdom, such as energy, petrochemical industries, healthcare, and the environment.
The department also focuses on advancing applied scientific research and innovation in modern chemical technologies, contributing to the enhancement of the knowledge-based economy and the support of national industries. In addition, the department seeks to establish strategic partnerships with academic and industrial institutions to strengthen research and practical collaboration in alignment with sustainable development goals and Saudi Vision 2030.
Following the Royal Approval No. 7/B/5538 dated 20/04/1418H for the establishment of the College of Science in Madinah, approval was granted for the establishment of the Department of Chemistry. Subsequently, Approval No. 224/A dated 29/01/1420H authorized the opening of the department under the umbrella of the College of Science, which welcomed its first students in the academic year 1420/1421H. Furthermore, the University Council, during its first session, Resolution No. (1) dated 29/10/1428H, approved the establishment of the General Chemistry Division within the department.
The Bachelor’s Program in Chemistry includes various specializations, namely inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and biochemistry, in addition to several applied chemistry disciplines that reflect the academic expertise and scientific competencies available within the department. The department has also successfully organized numerous scientific seminars, specialized training courses, and academic meetings for both students and faculty members.
