The Department offers academic programs at both the undergraduate and master’s levels:
B.Sc. in Geology: Four years, with a total of 135 credit hours.
B.Sc. in Mining Geology: Four years, with a total of 137 credit hours.
M.Sc. in Geological Exploration Technology: Two years, with a total of 43 credit hours, including a research project. The program will be offered starting from the second semester of the academic year 1448 AH.
All programs offered by the Department are on-campus programs, and the language of instruction is English.
Admission is conducted in accordance with the regulations and procedures outlined in the University Admission Guide issued by the Deanship of Admission and Registration, based on the weighted admission score. The weighted score for admission to scientific programs must be at least 70% at the university level. Applications are submitted electronically through the Unified Admission Platform.
Admission pathways are available for non-Saudi students and visiting students in accordance with the applicable regulations, policies, and approved requirements. Information on the available programs, admission pathways, application requirements, and required documents can be obtained through the “Study in Saudi Arabia” platform.
Honors are awarded to graduates of the undergraduate programs in accordance with the approved regulations of Taibah University, as follows:
First-Class Honors: Awarded to students who achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 4.75 out of 5.00.
Second-Class Honors: Awarded to students who achieve a cumulative GPA ranging from 4.25 to less than 4.75 out of 5.00.
Eligibility for an Honors Degree requires fulfillment of all applicable requirements and regulations, including completion of the program requirements within the prescribed period of study.
Students may apply for transfer to the Department of Geology's programs from within Taibah University or from another university, in accordance with the University's approved transfer regulations.
Courses previously completed by the student are subject to course equivalency procedures in accordance with the approved academic rules and regulations.
