A dental workshop certified by the Saudi Commission for  Health Specialties was concluded equivalent to 12 hours organized by the Dental Medicine Faculty in Taibah University in cooperation with a specialized company in medical and pharmaceutical services. The workshop which lasted for two days and attended by 115 contributors from the fifth year students in the faculty and a number of the Faculty Members and male and female physicians from the diverse sectors included a live transmission of surgical operation for dental implanting in the jaw bone, scientific lectures, and practical training to implant teeth on plastic models.
The Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine Prof. Dr. Waleed Bin Reda Murshid stated that the workshop program in the first day held at Anwar Al Madinah Movenpick comprehended scientific lectures and practical training to dental implanting on plastic models. While the workshop’s second day was held in the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the University. It included a live transmission of dental implanting surgical operation in the jaw bones for two patients after obtaining their written approval, Under local anesthesia by consultants involved in the workshop. It has been transmitted live from the Faculty clinics to the male and female physicians registering in the workshop in the main lectures hall in the Faculty. Also, two specialists in teeth implanting in the Specialized Dental Medicine Center in King Saud Medical City in Riyadh contributed in the workshop who were Dr. Beshy Al Qarany, the maxillofacial surgery consultant and Dr. Abdullah Al Keridees, the consultant of Prosthodontics.
Dr. Murshid clarified that the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Taibah University seeks excellence locally and internationally according to its message to fulfill the quality and accreditation standards in teaching Dental Medicine at the level of Bachelor and Higher studies levels and paying attention continuous education and following-up modern technologies in Dental Medicine. Also, focusing on rendering remedial services for the society with taking care of scientific research and encouraging innovation. Besides, the Faculty aims at graduating national cadres of  scientifically and professionally distinct female and male dental physicians according to Islamic values and morals, and applying the highest quality standards in education and using the most sophisticated methods to fulfill the local and international standards for the academic accreditation of scientific degrees granted by the Faculty and performing an effective role in upgrading the dental physicians level according to the need of labor market in the fields of dental medicine sciences through training courses,  continuous medical education programs, upgrading the specialty level through the availability of higher studies programs in the diverse dental medicine specialties, encouraging, and sustaining the applied and academic researches programs of strategic importance in the developmental plans, strengthening the bonds , opening cooperation channels and exchanging scientific experiences with the scientific local and international institutions, providing consultations and scientific and technical services for the governmental and non-governmental commissions and authorities concerned with the health of mouth and teeth.
