Under the auspices of His Excellency the Rector of Taibah Dr. Adnan Bin Abdullah Al Mazrooa, the events of the first voluntary work meeting was launched today morning at Taibah University in Al Madinah Al Munawwarah, organized by the Chair of Prince Majid Bin Abdul Aziz “ May Allah Have Mercy Upon Him ”for Voluntary Work at Taibah University in cooperation with Madinah Foundation for Community Development amid the presence and contribution of large numbers of the community’s diverse categories of those concerned and participating in voluntary works. The items of the meeting ,held at the Grand Celebration Hall, commenced with a speech delivered by His Excellency the Rector of Taibah University Dr. Adnan Al Mazrooa in which he tackled the importance of voluntary work and significance of contribution and organization therein. Also, His Excellency elaborated the role of Taibah University, its contribution in voluntary work, and the existing relation between the Chair of Prince Majid Bin Abdul Aziz “ May Allah Have Mercy Upon Him ”for Voluntary Work. Also, His Excellency directed a message to youth urging them to take part in voluntary work in its forms through the official channels thereof.Then, the General Secretary of Madinah Foundation for Community Development Dr. Bahjah Mahmoud Jeneid delivered a speech in which he shed light upon the foundation, its works, and goals. Also, he identified Madinah Center for Voluntary Work, its goals, ambitions, and the works it embarks on to upgrade voluntary work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, referring to the benefits attained by the participant in voluntary work of recompense, reward, and serving community.
Subsequently, the General Supervisor of the Chair of Prince Majid Bin Abdul Aziz “ May Allah Have Mercy Upon Him ”for Voluntary Work Dr. Mustafa Omar Halaby identified the Chair and its provided efforts to take part in developing voluntary work where he said that the Chair of Prince Majid Bin Abdul Aziz “ May Allah Have Mercy Upon Him ”for Voluntary Work at Taibah University was launched out of the care and heed of His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Majid Bin Abdul Aziz for the youth category and the belief of His Excellency that voluntary work is regarded as one of the most significant pillars of building-up community in all its fields and directions where His Excellency affirmed this by His Honorable Approval to sponsor and sustain the Chair for Voluntary Work at Taibah University, and it was named the Chair of Prince Majid Bin Abdul Aziz “ May Allah Have Mercy Upon Him ”for Voluntary Work at Taibah University as a touch of loyalty and righteousness from His Excellency to His Father His Royal Highness Prince Majid Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud “ May Allah Have Mercy Upon Him ”.Dr. Al Halaby indicated that the Chair aims at disseminating the culture of voluntary work in terms of science and application at the community with contribution in developing the specialized scientific, practical, theoretical, and applied efforts in voluntary work, in addition to conducting theoretical and applied researches in the voluntary work field. The most prominent activities and works of the Chair are the scientific, practical, field, cooperative, integral, technical, information, and documentation fields.
Dr. Halaby added that since its foundation, the Chair of Prince Majid Bin Abdul Aziz “ May Allah Have Mercy Upon Him ”for Voluntary Work at Taibah University implemented a large number of works including organization of voluntary work workshops and contribution in the World Volunteering Day in 2011 and 2012 A.D. successively through many voluntary activities such as cleaning and maintaining Mosques, cleaning and arranging King Abdul Aziz Library at Al Madinah Al Munawwarah, distributing presents to patients at hospitals and condoling them , distributing winter clothes to the needy and the visitors of Al Madinah Al Munawwarah, in addition to holding campaigns to combat smoking and contribution in a number of specialized seminars in voluntary work.While Dr. Halaby noted that the Chair is scheduled to execute during the current year 1434 A.H. two main programs based on the Chair’s plan including holding field scientific study entitled “ Voluntary Work: Reality and Aspirations” in cooperation with a research team specialized in voluntary work, in addition to designing a training portfolio specialized in voluntary work concerned with training male and female youth to voluntary work.Then, His Eminence Sheikh Saleh Bin Awad Al Maghamesy, the Imam and Orator of Qiba Mosque and the manager of Madinah Researches and Studies Center gave an educational lecture entitled “ Volunteering in Islam” in which he discussed the history of volunteering in Islam as it is one of the characteristics and features of Muslims. His Eminence said that voluntary work does not benefit the poor, needy, and indigents only, but it is beneficial to the one doing and performing it.
This has been followed a seminar entitled ( License of Voluntary Work) presented by Mr. Muhammad Al Baqamy in which he explained the mechanism of registering the license of voluntary work through displaying slides in which he outlined the phases of registration and its requirements.Hence, the morning program of the meeting’s first day concluded with signing events and shows by voluntary teams presented by “ Tamezy” team and “Bikers” teams for bikes, and the two teams “ Because We Like You” and “ Smiling of Joy” from Taibah secondary school. The items received the applause of attendees. As well, the meeting contained corners identifying the contributing authorities, exceeding 14 private and governmental authorities.
The meeting continues its events today evening and ends tomorrow Wednesday.
