The University Medical Center laboratory plays a critical role in accurate diagnosis through the collection and analysis of samples such as blood, urine, and stool. Services include:

Types of Laboratory Tests:

Kidney and Liver Function Tests, Cardiac Enzymes, Lipid Profile, Minerals and Vitamins, Hormones (e.g., thyroid, testosterone, estrogen), Blood Glucose, Viral Tests (e.g., hepatitis, influenza, HIV), Bacterial Cultures, Complete Blood Count (CBC), Thyroid Function Tests, Urinalysis, Stool Analysis

Patient Preparation Instructions:

Blood Tests:

  • Preferably done in the morning after fasting for 8–12 hours.
  • Avoid sugary or alcoholic drinks beforehand.

Urine Tests:

  • Collect midstream sample in a clean, dry container.

Stool Tests:

  • Use a dedicated container; avoid water or cleaning agents.
  • Avoid antibiotics or laxatives before the test.

Lipid/Cholesterol Profile:

  • Requires fasting and avoidance of fatty foods for 24 hours.

Viral Tests:

  • May require stopping certain medications or vaccines in advance.

Hormone Tests:

  • Some tests require timing related to the menstrual cycle.

Blood Glucose Tests:

Fasting for 8–12 hours is required.
